We were seated immediately and listened while our patient server, Margarita, gave us advice on fan favorites. Sushi was fresh and neat, salmon plate lovely as well. Enough for take home!
Visited from out of town for the first time…food, service, and atmosphere was exceptional, but Xavier and Nick really made the experience fantastic!! I had the filet mignon and it was delicious. Definitely visit if you’re in the area!
My wife and I recently dined at The Black Whale for the first time. Elaine ordered the fried scallops, which were excellent, while I had the lobster risotto, and it was absolutely delicious. The risotto was creamy and luxurious, packed with a generous amount of lobster. Our server, Molly, was engaging and attentive without being intrusive. Overall, this restaurant is definitely worth traveling for. I recommend making a reservation.
Wonderful experience! Nice casual atmosphere, great selections, easy parking, wonderful service from Margarita. She was very knowledgeable about the menu, was attentive but not overly so, and had a charming personality. I highly recommend.
We had such a great night out with friends at The Black Whale last night! All four of us loved our meals, the service was fantastic, and I already can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend for a fun night out! Two of us had the traditional New England lobster roll, one had the lightly battered fish n chips, and one had the Portuguese Cod. The food was fresh and delicious!
As a frequent customer I expected the same experience I usually have. Good service Great food and a good atmosphere. Today was much different. Celebrating my anniversary me and my girlfriend were pleasantly surprised and impressed with the level of service we received. Monica made our experience amazing and it was the greatest level of customer service we’ve had. Our food especially our spicy tuna on crispy rice appetizer was genuinely delicious. The Black Whale is a must try restaurant on the water, and they care about their customers like no other.
Located on the waterfront in Downtown New Bedford, The Black Whale was hard to miss. My wife and I found it hard to drive by so we called ahead and made a reservation. Upon arrival we were able be sat quickly. Once we sat down, we were greeted by our waitress. She was funny and was helpful with the menu choices. For starters we had some crackers with a smoked salmon spread and then went with some bowls of their award winning Chowder. It was delicious!👌 For entrees we did the Lobster Roll and fries and some Fish and Chips. Both were excellent. The lobster roll was stuffed with plenty of lobster and the bread was grilled nicely. The fish we perfect! Lightly breaded, flaky and moist. The chips(fries) were the only thing that were so so. There was also patio/outside seating but for our lunch we opted for indoor seating. The restaurant was nice and clean. Our service was top notch. Our food tasted great and we enjoyed our lunch.
I came in for the first time 5.24.26, after reading reviews and checking out the menu. When you first arrive at the parking lot by the water you get the smell of fresh air, water and huge ships, tug boats not to mention the incredible views. I instantly felt like I was in the right place. You walk up to the front of the restaurant, there’s such a welcoming atmosphere, a big oversized chair on the right to take pictures in and see passersby’s. When we walk in you see a smiling hostess, & to match the decor on walls reflecting hard working fishermen and having an incredible server named Emma who was well versed in the new Menu and could give us the scoop and answer with great enthusiasm and detail any questions we had. Emma you were an Absolute Delight! Thank you for being so prompt, professional, friendly and helpful your attention to detail was so appreciated! Thank you for also giving us insight on how the Ship, “The Temptress” was the one responsible for the wild caught seafood to help keep the place running. This place is absolutely beautiful, and I’m so glad we got to experience this along with the incredible service the food provided was OUTSTANDING!
The most delicious seafood dinner I’ve ever had! My fiancé and I came here for a classy date night while we were traveling and it did not disappoint! We had the most decadent raw bar dish (oysters, littlenecks, and shrimp cocktail) coupled with a fantastic stuffed lobster. As a seafood fan, I was in HEAVEN! On top of that, my fiancé said he had the BEST key lime pie he’s ever eaten (and key lime pie is his favorite dessert). Highly recommend this place for an awesome date night!
It's hard to find the words to capture how wonderful our experience was. The staff greeted us with warmth and kindness, making us feel truly welcome, and the dishes were absolutely delicious. It was a memorable time that we'd happily share again! Don't forget to reserve seats ahead of time, it's a busy place, also not in a season. The only things it took us 10 min to find a space to park the car.
